Mr. Bean missed the boat with this one...
Two weekends ago, I was shopping around in Office Depot for a book shelf that I have no where to put and happened to stroll on past the furniture section. Well, it just so happened that there was a man there, shopping for a desk chair. He was hopping from one chair to the next and just had me in... Read full review »
The Detrimental Downfall of Mr. Bean
I have been a fan of Rowan Atkinson's Mr. Bean for a good 10 years. I have always enjoyed how he makes a fool of himself in any situation imaginable. Because of this, I have gotten a vast majority of his tapes.
Then I heard about the movie Bean and I thought that this had to be a great...

Hilarious, but often a case of Bean There, Done That
My feelings about this movie were mixed the first time I viewed it. Although I was amused for much of the film, my own misgivings about Bean were quite different from some of the others expressed on Epinions.
In the movie, Mr Bean is an inept security guard at the London Museum of Art and...

Even the word 'Bean' is funny.
I was idly flipping through the TV guide yesterday evening and was delighted to see BEAN lined up for 9:40pm on Channel 7. Although I?d seen it two or three times before, I was keen to park myself on the sofa for another dose of Mr Bean?s ?mudjik!?
It?s now 2002, so you should be settled...

Would have been better if it was British-made
I am a huge Mr. Bean fan! I mean huge!! I have t-shirts, magnets, videos, even his teddy bear. He used to come on PBS all the time. I've seen all the episodes. I am truly a Mr. Bean fan.
So, I'm going to watch the Bean movie right? Right!
Well, being the poor college student that...

Funny Bean but not the movie!
Mr. Bean has been very funny since the tv shows of bean. However, it does not come on TV any more. Not on America anyway.
In Bean the movie, Basically, it tells about a security guard like guy was assigned to America somehow to represent the museum. He was mistaken as Doctor Bean. He...

just another case of a good premise ruined by commercialism
The problem with making a motion picture related to some kind of cult following is that it usually doesn't adapt well to the mainstream. And it's not that "Bean" fails because of this principle (although that has a lot to do with it), it's just not a very funny, nor entertaining film to begin with... Read full review »
Bean
Although I usually find Rowan Atkinson hilarious, I must say this movie was absolutely wretched. The Mr. Bean character was not entirely at fault - I've enjoyed the few bits of the show that I've seen before.
I thought the movie would be funny, but it turned out to be one of those...

sight gags...? Oh yes, this film has them!
I enjoy British humor and have since the late 70?s when I discovered Monty Python?s Flying Circus. I liked Benny Hill, too, and now we have ?Mr. Bean.?
I really don?t know what to make about this Bean character. I?ve seen him on TV talk shows doing a guest spot and find his visual humor...

"Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie" Could have been better...
This is an interesting movie. Interesting in the fact that it poses the question of how can something that worked so well on television fail so miserably on the big screen? "Bean" the television series was so different, so completely original and honestly funny that it quickly became recognizable... Read full review »

Bean: The Movie [VHS]
Translating Rowan Atkinson's Mr. Bean character from British television to the big screen takes a bit of a toll, but there are some hilarious sequences in this popular comedy. Bean, a boy-man twit with a knack for getting into difficult binds (and then making them worse and worse and worse), is a London museum guard who is sent to Los Angeles in the company of the famous painting Whistler's Mother. He's mistaken as an art expert by the well-meaning curator (Peter MacNicol) of an L.A. museum, but Bean's famously eccentric behavior soon causes the poor guy to almost lose his family and job. The insularity of Bean's TV world is sacrificed in this film, and that change diminishes some of the character's appeal. But Atkinson is a man naturally full of comedy, and he doesn't let his fans down. --Tom Keogh
