Toonces, the Windows PDA

byGirlina Nov 15, 1999
30 Helpfuls 31 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Great screen, good performance
Cons Expensive, not as portable as a Palm
Recommended it? No

Remember that SNL sketch about Toonces, the cat that could drive a car - but not very well? That's what the Cassiopeia E-105 reminds me of. It does any number of PC-type tasks, from playing MP3 clips to displaying photos - but overall, doesn't do that great of a job. While the E-105 is still a... Read full review »

Pros Handy Dandy Device
Cons Pricey - One pays to play...
Recommended it? Yes

Thanks to the "Innovators" class in the product adoption phase of a new products' life cycle, Casio is able to charge, and receive, up to $550 for its Cassiopeia series PDA. If you must have a PDA (no doubt to compensate for whatever it is you lack), this is the one to get. Some, especially those... Read full review »

Pros State of the art, multimedia, stereo jack
Cons Expensive, software outdated in some cases
Recommended it? Yes

The Cassiopeia E-105 is the palmtop organizer you want to get. Just be sure to read this review before you run out and buy one.

The reason you want this machine is that it is the best palmtop device available today. It comes with 32 megabytes of RAM, a stereo headphone jack, 133 MHz... Read full review »

OS spoils excellent machine

byelbowz Jul 18, 2000

Pros Looks good, screen, video player
Cons Windows CE, Windows CE and Windows CE
Recommended it? No

To be fair to the e105 you need to examine it in three parts. The hardware, the software and the connectivity.

The hardware is breathtakingly good, the most outstanding feature being the colour TFT screen which really is amazing. The case looks good and isn't overly large or weighty -... Read full review »

Excellent product for road warriors

Pros Screen, Sound, Memory, Ease of use
Cons Screen under direct, strong sunlight, No USB ports.
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased it perfectly new from a co-worker. It comes with 32MB RAM, 16MB ROM and Windows CE 2.11. I have used it around for about 1 and a half months, and I can say its simply great. I had a NEC MobilePro 770 H/PC for testing purposes, and the Cassiopeia is as great as the NEC - simply as that... Read full review »

Cassiopeia: a constellation in your hand.

byuioreanu Jul 30, 2002
7 Helpfuls 8 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Windows compatible, games, lot of software available, internet
Cons battery life, OS incompatibilities, serial connection a little slow
Recommended it? Yes

It is interesting how manufacturers name their products nowadays. In order to get good resonance words, I think they do market researches and geographical tests. Anyway, picking a well-known constellation name guarantees some familiarity with the product before ever seeing it, isn't it? Cassiopeia... Read full review »

Hold the power in the palm of your hand!

Pros Very fast, lots of memory, lots of options, not really expensive for what you get.
Cons Glare off of the screen sometimes, but only in sunlight at the wrong angle.
Recommended it? Yes

This is a great palm computer. It is not extremely expensive, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. It has 32 megs of ram, 130 MHz processor, and lots of options. You can watch video and even surf the internet in over 65 million colors on the very sharp and crisp LCD screen. It is also very easy... Read full review »

Cons Was the best WinCE device, now superseded by PocketPC (WinCE 3)

Preface:
I own and use a Compaq IPaq pda daily. I have bought, used and given to my siblings Casio E125, EM-500 and E-105s. As such, I will offer comparisons amongst the models when possible. Given the amount of information available on Microsoft's PocketPC (WinCE 3) and WinCE 2.xx operating... Read full review »

Pros Lots of features, very fast for its class
Cons Very expensive.
Recommended it? Yes

Before getting this device, ask yourself this. "What do I intend to do with it?" You must keep in mind that the Cassiopeia is not intended to replace the conventional desktop, or even laptop, but to assist it. Call me crazy, but that may be why they call it a PDA.

The Cassiopeia E-105 is... Read full review »

Pros Awesome display, Oooh / Aaahh technology, stereo sound
Cons $$$$$, CE interface, obsolete operating system
Recommended it? Yes

The Cassiopeia is one of those gadgets that elicits ooohs and aahs when showed around to other people. The screen is incredible, and some of the features ( like multimedia, voice recording, and Minesweeper) are really sweet. The RAM, powerful processor, and incredible display mean that some really...
