Dr Do Who?

Pros Good children's movie. No profanity. Live action, talking animals.
Cons Old Eddie Murphy fans will be disappointed.
Recommended it? Yes

I enjoy taking my (now) 8 year-old daughter to kid movies. Most are done so as to be entertaining for adults with parts we can enjoy that go over a kids head. (I didn't get some references in Bugs Bunny cartoons until I was in my 30's). That's why I looked forward to seeing Dr. Doolittle 2 (I... Read full review »

Dr. Dolittle II - You can teach an old bear new tricks!

Pros Funny!
Cons Don't get popcorn if you can't handle poop humor.
Recommended it? Yes

Dr. John Dolittle is BACK! If you haven?t seen Dr. Dolittle, then I would suggest seeing the first movie on video first. You don?t have to see the original video, but it does give the background. II stands alone, but it will mean more if you know how Dolittle came to be a friend of the animals... Read full review »

I Miss The Old Eddie.

Pros cute animals, some laughs, good kids film.
Cons WAY TOO KIDDIE.
Recommended it? No

For what it's worth, Dr. Dolittle 2 is the perfect talking animal movie. I laughed at some parts, and for the most part I liked the animals. Especially the bear who is voiced perfectly by Steve Zahn. The film is loads better than the original film, but let's be honest, that isn't saying much. When... Read full review »

"I Will Survive"

Pros Talented Eddie Murphy promotes animal solidarity and saving the forest
Cons Familiar and formulaic, filled with crude and lame fart and poop jokes
Recommended it? Yes

When I took a seven year-old and a ten year-old to see Eddie Murphy, once again, play kind-hearted Dr. John Dolittle, they loved it. And why not? Filled with a merry menagerie, including cynical Lucky the Dog (voiced by Norm Macdonald), plus lots of fart and poop jokes, it's aimed directly at the... Read full review »

Dolittle does very little indeed to amuse!

Pros A few funny moments.
Cons Not nearly as funny as the original.
Recommended it? No

Here's another sequel, Dr. Dolittle 3 that unfortunately is not quite as funny as the original. John Dolittle (Eddie Murphy) is back, listening to, and treating animals. The original film seemed to garnish more laughter at the antics of Dr. Dolittle being confronted with a new concept of actually... Read full review »

Cons human characters never fully developed, puts animals' "rights" above humans

Last Friday, I took my wife out on a date. Before our son was born, we did this quite often. But since our bundle of joy arrived a year ago, "date night" has been a rare thing for us.

However, we were able to get out for a much needed date for some "us" time. After a good dinner, we... Read full review »

Cons Unfortunately, the entire movie did

Well, I decided to go ahead and make a journey to my local movie theater to see Dr. Dolittle 2 today. Usually I?m not willing to be dragged there on opening night of a movie, but my wife is going out of town tomorrow, so we won?t be able to take our usual Saturday night trip. In other words, I got... Pros Some smart quips, and Murphy.
Cons Cheesy environmental preachfest.

There?s more than enough stuff to make you smile, giggle, and laugh in Dr. Dolittle 2. (Yes?2! Can you believe it?) Well, enough if you?re inclined to this sort of thing. Okay, okay, even if you?re not. The comedic moxi of Eddie Murphy is enough to elevate even the most simplistic material, and if... Read full review »

In the classic Rex Harrison musical based on Hugh Lofting's book series, Dr. John Dolittle is a man who has dedicated his life to the linguistic study of animals, hoping to devise a way of communicating with them. Cons A bit too sexually explicit for pre-teens.

Eddie Murphy as Dr. John Dolittle will undoubtedly be remembered and quoted like Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop. The lines are fabulous, original, and stated with just the right Murphy-esse.

I personally liked the first Dr. Dolittle a bit more than the second, but this... Read full review »

Dr. Dolittle 2 - Dvd

The sequel to Eddie Murphy's smash hit family comedy, DR DOLITTLE, will certainly not disappoint fans of the first film. Murphy returns as the doctor, who has now garnered some measure of fame for his communication abilities, at least among the animal kingdom. Dolittle is also dealing with his rebellious teenage daughter (Raven Symone). But he drops everything when he's summoned by "The Beaver," the Godfather figure of the local forest, to help the animals preserve their home by stopping an overly aggressive lumber company. To save the forest, Dolittle has to take a trained performing bear (also an endangered species, who is endearingly voiced by Steve Zahn)--and introduce him to the wild to find a mate. Zahn's bear, who would rather star on Broadway than hibernate in the woods, is the comedic heart of the film, but there's an entertaining array of colorful animal characters, including Lucky the dog (Norm Macdonald reprising his role from the first film) and Pepito (Jacob Vargas), a chameleon who can't quite
