Until I got this unit I had owned a Magellan. It was a second generation generic GPS.
At the time it was a pretty advanced unit (1996). It was finally time to upgrade and the
options of the newer GPS units took a bit of education.
I wanted a GARMIN specifically because of the maps on... Read full review »

Cons User interface is hard to use, sometimes hard to acquire satellite signals

I bought the Garmin Etrex Legend a week ago from Amazon.com for $150 (after a $50 rebate). I have been very satisfied with this GPS ever since I first used it. Being an amateur, have never used a GPS before. But the Etrex Legend proved easy to use and I learned to use most of its functions quickly... Read full review »

For men, who have a genetic coding that precludes actions like, say, pulling over to ask for directions, and encourages behaviors such as, say, playing with electronic gadgets and wandering into the woods, this little device called the Garmin eTrex Legend could be the missing link. However, this... Read full review »

For a number of years I have been interested in Geocaching but never actually followed through. I even went as far as purchasing a GPS unit a few years ago but never used it.  After being inspired by a couple of friends who are into it and going out on an expedition with one of them, I came... I've always been interested in Global Positioning System (G.P.S.) technology. Especially since the U.S. Military removed that error correction thing. As far as I knew, what GPS units did, was show the longitude and latitude of the unit. I looked around for a cheap one and after reading some reviews... Read full review »

I bought my GPS 15 months ago. It cost me just under $200 dollars at Wal-Mart. I have been very pleased with what I have got out of my GPS. Pros Awesome technology

... not for the build.

The case is shoddy, not what you would expect from this class of instrument. I have had my unit for quite a while now and the black rubber around the edge is glued on; said glue oozes out from underneath the band and gets your hand gooey. The adhesive tape under the... Read full review »
