A while back I was helping a friend of mine setup a wireless network in his house to share the high speed cable internet connection through a wireless Linksys Router. The most difficult connection was going to be in the basement because it was too long of a distance to the router. So we... Read full review »

Pros Good performance. Good price. Linksys is a trusted name.
Cons The setup wizzard does not always work.
Recommended it? Yes

The reason why I bought a wireless AP instead of a wireless gateway/router was because I already have a wired network with a good router and switch that I'm happy with. An access point, sometimes called a wireless hub, lets you add wireless clients to an already-established wired network.

I previously had a desktop PC and my son had a notebook. The desktop was hard wired, the notebook wireless, via a Belkin wireless 'B' router.

I recently upgraded to new notebook PCs, eliminating the desktop. I also purchased the Linksys wireless 'G' router.

The linksys works... Read full review »

I invited a technichian to my house to get an estimate on how much it would cost to wire my house so I could network my DSL connection among my various computers. He said 800$. When I heard 800$, I decided to try a different approach. I tried the Linksys Wireless Access Point and I've never looked... Read full review »

This was my first attempt at a wireless device.

Here is my story:
I find a local retailer that has an out of the box Linksys WAP54G. Of course I was lusting after this one... When I saw the unit at a good price, I couldn't refuse. So I get the device, bring it home, and quickly... Read full review »

Cons I lose my network connection every time I use my 2.4Ghz cordless phone.

I've used a Linksys BEFSR41 wired router/switch for several months - and was very pleased with how easy and quick it was to setup.

I work from home and decided this past spring ('03) it would be nice to work from the patio instead of indoors. I went to CompUSA and picked up the WAP54G... Read full review »

Pros None that I can think of. It didn't work at all
Cons Just didn't work and was pretty expensive for what it claimed to do.
Recommended it? No

I tried and tried and could not get this thing to work. I work in IT, so although I don't know everything I'm not a total idiot. It entirely fails the "Dad" test in that the setup is totally non-intuitive.

Worst, when I unscrewed the antenna to plug in a directional one, the connector... Read full review »

I purchased a new Linksys Router with Wireless. After an hour of mucking with it, and an hour on line with their indian tech support the support guy told me to return it to Fry's. I then asked "what about the firmware rev" and
found out that it was shipped with a beta-level firmware release... Read full review »
