Madagascar - A friend won't devour you but they might bite you in the butt!
Over the Memorial Day weekend we decided to venture out to the movies to see the latest from Dreamworks, Madagascar. Surprisingly for an opening weekend of the movie and it being a holiday movie the theatre was only sparcely occupied - but perhaps that is because we picked a 6pm showing to attend... Spoiled Zoo Animals End up in Madagascar
Several animated movies are released every year now. I tend to go see most of them because I still enjoy animation. I wanted to see Madagascar after the first time I saw a preview for the movie even though I was a bit disappointed with Shark Tale, the last animated movie that DreamWorks made.

Marty the zebra has been dreaming of a life in the wild lately. Marty (Chris Rock) just turned ten years old, and has spent his life entertaining the throngs of daily visitors to the Central Park Zoo. His best friend, Alex the lion (Ben Stiller), doesn't understand why his buddy would want to... Read full review »
Madagascar -- With The Voices of Ben Stiller and Chris Rock
Dreamworks has produced another mega box office hit with the film Madagascar. Taking the approach of using animals to carry a story is nothing new though, and even though the movie made a ton of money, I don't think that it stands out above anything they have made in the past. Madagascar is the... Read full review »
A good film for the kiddies...
Madagascar is the latest animated offering from Dreamworks and is aimed pretty squarely at children, though it's got enough humour to be fun for adults too. (In fact, when I saw it there were no children present at the cinema!!)
Meet the Animals
A zebra named Marty is getting...

Jungle Boogie
In most cases, the Memorial Day weekend is thought of as the debut of the Summer Movie Season. This year, the debut came a little earlier of course, thanks to Mr. Lucas. That of course, meant that Memorial Day at the cinema felt somewhat anti-climactic, even with the arrival of new movies.

Sugar Honey Ice Tea (abbreviated) S.H.I...Tea
Madagascar is the newest computer animated cartoon from Dreamworks, who are not to be confused with Disney. It features the voices of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and David Schwimmer. In short, I did not like it. It wasn't very funny and the characters were more annoying than... Read full review »
Madagascar Is a Worthy Movie Escape Destination
Computer animation has provided some of the most memorable and enjoyable movies of the past 5-6 years. From Shrek to Finding Nemo to Ice Age, they've revolutionized the family filmgoing experience. Lions, Giraffes, and Penguins, Oh My! - Madagascar
I was able to see Madagascar tonight, after anxiously awaiting its release ever since I saw the first preview with adorable animals. As a result, I had enormously high expectations going in. While the film wasn't quite as amazing as I hoped, it does offer some memorable moments and adorable... Read full review »

Madagascar (Widescreen Edition)
A pack of not-so-wild animals experience some serious culture shock when they move from the Big Apple to the Mighty Jungle in this computer- animated comedy. Alex (voice of Ben Stiller) is a lion who enjoys a charmed life as one of the leading attractions at a zoo in New York City's Central Park. While Alex and his pals Marty the Zebra (voice of Chris Rock), Gloria the Hippo (voice of Jada Pinkett Smith), and Melman the Giraffe (voice of David Schwimmer) are happy with their lot in life, they occasionally have a certain curiosity about the outside world, and when the zoo's penguins decide to make a break for it, Marty follows them into the city. Alex, Gloria, and Melman set out to find Marty before he gets into trouble, but they're a bit too late, and soon the zookeepers have decided that the animals are restless and need to be returned to the wild. Soon the critters find themselves living on the coast of Madagascar, where they quickly discover they aren't quite suited for living in the wild. Madagascar also features the voice talents of Cedric the Entertainer, Andy Richter, and Sacha Baron Cohen (aka Ali G).

Madagascar Widescreen DVD
The friendship between a New York City lion and zebra is tested when fate brings them out to the unforgiving wilderness in this computer- animated DreamWorks feature. Chris Rock does the voice of Marty the Zebra whose longing to explore beyond his cushy Central Park Zoo boundaries is the impetus that ultimately strands him and his pals on the shores of savage Madagascar. Marty loves the new edible scenery but his best friend Alex voiced by Ben Stiller the Lion begins to starve since his diet of thick steaks has been cut off and the rump of his friend starts to look mighty tasty. Their other friends a hypochondriac giraffe David Schwimmer and a sassy hippo Jada Pinkett Smith try their best to think of a solution as the call of the wild slowly turns the starving Alex into Marty's worst nightmare. Meanwhile the hilariously self- aggrandizing King of the Ocelots Sacha Cohen has a plan to use Marty to repel their own carnivore problem. This kid-oriented comedy stays adult-friendly every step of the way thanks to a clever script that mixes New Yorker humor and even some existentialism in with the pratfalls and spit-takes. Jolts of comedic brilliance are supplied by some Arctic-bound escaped con penguins and a couple of literary apes. It's not a musical but classic songs from the likes of Louis Armstrong and Sammy Davis Jr. keep the montages flowing loose and sassy.
