Before purchasing this router, I had absolutely no clue what wireless internet was all about. I went to Best Buy and spoke to someone on the floor in sales, who told me that Netgear was the mid-line buy for a PC. A random passerby immediately stopped and told me how awful their products and support... Read full review »

I have used a Linksys WRT54GC (which USPS lost in transit to Linksys for an RMA...thanks USPS) and a Hawking HWR54G in the same exact setup as I have the Netgear WGT624NA currently in. Of them all, the Netgear has been the best so far.

(Netgear puts the model of the WGT624 as WGT624NA,... Read full review »

Pros Easy to setup, use, and maintain.  A solid buy.
Cons None.

When my company supplied me with a laptop with a wireless card, I decided to upgrade from a Netgear 4 port router to a 4 port wireless unit.
Having had good success with other Netgear products, I selected this one from tigerdirect.  I wil focus on the wireless setup and operation as that is the... Read full review »

Pros Good Value
Cons Unreliable Performance, Difficult to Use, Difficult Setup
Recommended it? No

I bought this is January & have had a few problems with finding a wireless connection.  I was on the phone with Netgear support TODAY for over 2 hours & since my 90 day free trial was up I had to pay $99.00 for an additional 14 months of use.  It is not reliable for wireless use. Pros Similar to older netgear model installation menu/process, so should make for an easy...
Cons None that I could find - though I only performed the install.

A neighbor of mine needed help configuring his wireless network so he called me to ask if I could walk him through the install on the phone. I am in the IT field and he's WAY not! :)

My first question was the router model number so I could look up the manual. I downloaded the reference... Read full review »

A cheap but somewhat flaky wireless router

byleonbev Nov 19, 2006
6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros It's affordably priced, easy to find on sale at the moment, and it looks cool.
Cons The router is not very stable, and you'll need a techie to configure it correctly.
Recommended it? No

I bought this router for under $20 (shipped) from Woot a few weeks ago, and started having problems with it right away. The automatic setup wizard incorrectly detected my internet connection as a fixed IP address configuration, and I needed to put it into advanced mode in order to configure it... Read full review »

Great Speed, Great Range, and Quite Schizophrenic

bycapricorn1 Feb 2, 2005

Pros Much faster than a comparable Linksys router with much greater wireless range.
Cons Certain combinations of router firmware and adapter drivers are unstable at best.
Recommended it? No

I bought the WGT624 (WGT624 v2 to be exact) because I was very impressed with the Netgear MR814 (802.11b - 11 Mbps) I had purchased for my daughter to take to college. While I was setting the MR814 up, I noticed that the throughput on the Netgear's wired switch was noticeably faster than the... Read full review »

Pros Strong connection, easy set-up, reliable service
Cons None that I can find

I bought a laptop in 2007 that had built-in wireless, so I thought it was time to upgrade my home network. I purchased a refurbished NetGear WGT624 wireless router in March of 2007. I only paid $19.50 for it, so I didn't expect too much from it, but I have been pleasantly surprised.

I had trouble selecting a wireless router. I was at all sorts of sites looking for help and recoms. My son is a tech and he suggested a few but it all comes down to finally pointing your finger and saying "That one please". I bought from Frys.com and got a fair price. The Super G set up went... Isn't a "wireless router" supposed to provide wireless internet connection?

byearthfire1 Jul 17, 2007

Pros When it worked, I could get on the internet from my laptop.
Cons Lengthy set-up Touchy set-up Connection unreliable
Recommended it? No

Fifty percent of the time, my wireless router functions at most as a fancy paperweight, and at least a waste of electricity.

I bought this product as an intended upgrade from my low-priced Belkin wireless router, which was very reliable but seemed to slow up the internet connection on the... Read full review »
