Nikon Just Can't get it Right
See my reviews of the 8800 and the more recent models such as the S1. I am a huge DSLR Nikon fan, but Nikon continues to make awful P&S consumer models. I can't believe that over the years they have no done better.

I bought the coolpix S5 before a trip to England and Ireland. We were attending my stepson's wedding and I am not the best photographer. I did not have to be. The pictures I took were excellent. Not impressed
Ritz Camera loves to push this camera, so I fell for it. I wanted a small camera to throw in my purse, and I didn't want to spend over $250. The Nikon S50 fits both those criteria.
