Pros Incredible imagery and features for the price.
Cons Non-interchangeable lens, zoom control is nice, but not professionally smooth.
Recommended it? Yes

As a professional cinematographer/cameraman for the last 19 years, I've extensively shot every film and video format from 16mm and 35mm to BetaCam and High-Definition 24p. I could not believe how well the footage I shot with the Panasonic AG-DVX100 looked in all of the conditions I put it through... Read full review »

bymarcusz27 Jun 17, 2003
10 Helpfuls 11 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Broadcast Quality, Progressive modes, Easy to use, Many features
Cons Microphone pick-up is not great
Recommended it? Yes

Let me start off by getting something off my chest: This camera blows all competitors away. That includes (but is not limited to) Canon's flashy XL1S and Sony's proven classic the PD150. The AG-DVX100 is, without a doubt, the best camera you can buy without going pro. The incredible features, great... Read full review »

Pros Color quality. Resolution, "ease" of use, FULL control of everything.
Cons optimal quality 16:9 requires a $800 anamorphic adapter.
Recommended it? Yes

This camera is simply a technologic master piece. It offers the best resolution and some of the most beautiful images ive ever seen come from a digital video source under $10,000. However what makes this camera special is its 24P capability. other video cameras in this price range offer stadard... Read full review »

This is a great camera. The 25p mode is extremely useful for professionals.

Pros Both 25p and 50i mode available. Easy standalone and multicamera use. Affordable pricing.
Cons No variable framerate for slowmotion stuff like AG-HVX200.
Recommended it? Yes

I use two of these cameras in my company www.040-itv.nl for all TV and DVD productions. Using both 50i and 25p depending on the desired effect. Motion, resolution and brightness differ depending on the selected mode. I also use the wide angle conversion lens on one camera. So I can get even closer... Read full review »

Panasonic's latest effort in the Prosumer MiniDV camcorder range is the AG-DVX100 (soon to be replaced by the upgraded DVX100A), is nothing short of a milestone for low to zero budget filmmakers. While many cameras boast the same features, the DVX100 has its trump card - 24P. No other camera within... Read full review »

Panasonic DVX100 - not to shabby!

bymigman May 10, 2003
8 Helpfuls 9 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Nice filmic picture! Let me say it again, nice picture!
Cons Very loose focus ring. High artifacting! 10X zoom?
Recommended it? Yes

This is a very good indie cam or B roll cam. You get that cinema gamma look right out of the box so that should save you some bucks and rendering time using those cinelook plugins. That alone should make you want this camera.

Under low light, not too bad, objects were defined okay.

Cons Too costly for hobbyists (but cheap for professionals!).

This camera was just used (March, 2005) to shoot Conquest of America on the History Channel. It is used now on several cable network shows and TV commercials. It can shoot like traditional video, or set to look like it was shot on film. I bought it for professional reasons but find I'm using it for... Read full review »

This is the best hand held camera in the world
When you compare the color saturation with any other DV 1/3 3CCD camera in this price class this camera does the best. Even if the low light situation is not the best of all, it still is perfect enough.
I filmed with this camera behind the... Read full review »

After using the XL-1 for over 3 years, I haven't picked it up since my purchase of the Panasonic AG-DVX100A. I always thought that the swing out lcd cameras were not professional format usage, but since discovered that I have endless creative angles and flexibility of shots. The controls are great...
