I had fully intended to see Proof of Life when it was released late last year. One thing led to another, however, and it was gone before I made the opportunity. So I was thrilled when I found that the video would be shown during our recent cruise.

Meg Ryan and Russell Crowe are among my... Read full review »

Pros Russell Crowe, beautiful scenery, good story
Cons not an action flick - much more of a drama

Oh wow, only 75 reviews of Proof Of Life so far at Epinions? I guess this movie isn't very popular, huh? I remember back when Mission Impossible 2 came out and I saw it opening night, went to write my review the next day and there were already nearly 100 epinions on it. Anyhow, I digress....

Pros Action Packed
Cons The smoking could've been redused

This is your typical hero movie starring Russell Crowe and Meg Ryan. I enjoyed the plot, although the romance scene threw me of course. The smoking in this movie could have been kept to a minimum.

Meg Ryan played as the character Alice in Proof of Life. Her husband in the movie was a... Read full review »

Pros Acting, Action.
Cons Ryan in some parts
Recommended it? Yes

I went into Proof Of Life not really knowing what to expect. Sure I've seen the trailer for it in every movie I've seen for the last two months. It's been getting very mixed reviews by major critics and the online buzz has been less then favorable. The biggest talk about Proof Of Life has been all... Read full review »

Pros photography, great opening section, David Caruso rocked
Cons terrible dialog, slow pacing, Meg and Pamela

This movie is like a getting your favorite sandwich, being really hungry and ready for the taste of this treat, and taking a big bite to find out someone had spread your least favorite condiment on thick. There?s good stuff in there, but it?s rendered impotent by the bad stuff spread on top. If you... Read full review »

No Proof of Life Until The Last 30 Minutes!

byMontepenny Dec 18, 2000

Pros Strong Finish

It is always a shame when the publicity for the release of a film is overshadowed by the scandalous activities of its stars because it never really gets a fair chance to make it on its own merits. The press generates so many headlines that you find yourself distracted from the film. I remember when... Read full review »

In what can most accurately be described as Dennis Quaid's working definition of hell, cute-as-a-button Meg Ryan ("You've Got Mail" "Joe Versus the Volcano") and Russell Crowe ("Gladiator" "The Insider") have teamed up for what could be the action hit of the season. If only it were good.

With the end of the cold war and economic instability spanning the globe, the international community has turned a tad sour. No longer can anti-government rebels in third-world countries depend on democratic/communist backing. The plug's been pulled and these various groups must now find new means... Read full review »

Cons could do without the sister in law

I have been dying to see Proof of Life. Yes, I admit the media has added extra encouragement with all the talk of the hot romance between Meg Ryan and Russell Crowe. I happen to love both of the actors here anyway. I have been a fan of Meg Ryan for a long time, and Crowe won me over in LA... Read full review »
