Sony WEGA KDE-61XBR950 61" HDTV Plasma TV

The Sony KDE-61XBR950 XBR Plasma WEGA models feature a built-in ATSC tuner for access to over-the-air high definition broadcasts, as well as Clear QAM tuning for access to digital terrestrial and unscrambled local digital channels. The Sony KDE61XBR950 incorporate Sony's re-engineered WEGA Engine, which integrates advanced digital circuitries to maximize picture performance from any video source by minimizing the number of digital-to-analog conversion processes, resulting in brilliant and crisp images. It also incorporate i.LINK as well as DVI-HDTV connections to deliver high-definition content and offer enhanced Memory Stick functionality.

Pros nice picture, but not worth the bad reliability
Cons terrible reliability. it breaks every 6-8 months.
Recommended it? No

the picture is beautiful, but the reliability is terrible. we purchased a sony in one room and a panasonic in another room. 5 service calls on the sony and none on the panasonic. and does sony's customer service care? they give you the run around every time you call. it's certainly not worth the... I purchased this Plasma TV from the Good Guys in January '04. In January '05 it went "BZZT" and stopped working. Since it was slightly over a year old at that point, my Good Guys Extended Service Plan is supposed to cover the repairs. Unfortunately, they have thus far taken 6 weeks (!!) and have...
