Above average portable DVD player
After browsing different brand names like Sony, Zenith, Philips I come up with the Toshiba SD-1900 for $169 at Best Buy. Since I pay a bit steep, I'll be more critical on quality and features.
- First look: this unit looks neat, compact. The black acrylic top makes the unit look more...

Well-built, multi-function portable DVD player
I started to look for a portable DVD player as we're going to have an intercontinental flight with our 3-yr old son. We need something to occupy him besides his books and toys. My on-line research led me to the SDP1900.

Player worked for first 10 - 12 months then it started to give the "no valid disc error" So some discs worked, some didn't. This went on for another few months and now no disc works. $170 for a 1 year product! Keeping in mind the unit was infrequently. I'd estimate 30-40 movies watched. ... Read full review »
Waste of Money
This product was a waste of money. I got exactly one round trip air trip out of it before receiving the "No Valid Disc" error message anytime I try to use it. I strongly recommend staying away from this defective piece of machinery. Read full review »
No valid disc problem
I too have had the "no valid disc" error, after very little usage. But, I have found a way to get around it. Press the "mode" button many times while it's loading. The disc will start to spin (although it sounds like a garbage disposal, so it's probably going to die soon), and then it works. ... Read full review »

I got a new replacement, and died again after 4 uses(no valid disc). before this had a Toshiba spd 1400 which also died (thus the extended warranty this time). Replaced now with a Panasonic. ...
