The 4 Best Wii Accessories

The Nintendo Wii is great, but it needs a few accessories to really bring the fun out of it.

Hundreds of companies have tried making accessories for the Wii, but here’s a look at a few of the best options.

Wii Electro Flow Induction Charger - Modern video game controllers shouldn't operate on disposable batteries.  There's nothing more annoying than running out mid-game session and realizing that you're going to have to run to the store in your sweatpants just to keep going.  This set of rechargeable batteries for your Wii comes with a stylish dock that fits in with the Wii’s white aesthetic.  It looks good sitting next to your television set, and it’ll charge Wiimotes regardless of whether they’ve got those neat silicone cases on them or not.  It’s a very handy device and a very unassuming way to keep your Nintendo Wii controllers charged and ready for the next game night.

The set includes two long lasting batteries made with Nickel Cadmium that replace the battery packs of the Wiimotes.  You don't need to worry about what that means--just know that they'll last a long time between each charge.

Wii Accessory Pack - You could buy all of the accessories included in this pack separately, but what would be the point of that when you can get them all in one package for much less money?

This accessory pack makes a great gift, and includes protective grips for your controllers, a wheel (which will allow you to have a lot more fun in games like Mario Kart and…uh, well, any other racing game that supports the wheel) and a recharging kit.  The recharging kit isn’t the best in the world, and I prefer the one above, but it’s still better than nothing.  As this entire accessory kit is only $30, it’s a great choice for Wii owners and a quick way to get up and playing with all of the latest Wii accessories.

Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board – The Wii fit is something of a phenomenon among non-gamers, and as gamers are often accused of having poor physical health compared to other hobbyists, this “game” and its accessory are a great buy.  It can weigh you and lead you through a ton of exercises designed to improve your overall health.  It’s also a good source of general health and diet tips.

The Balance Board can also be used with certain games, so it’s not just a board that you work out on.  It’s a fun peripheral, a great example of Nintendo ingenuity, and a fantastic way to blast a few calories when you get a spare moment.

4 IN 1 Sports Game Pack - This cheap pack of sports accessories only runs about $15.  There’s a good reason for this—it’s just a bunch of plastic that makes your Wii controller look like a golf club, a tennis racket, a baseball bat, etc.  So why should you buy it?  Well, adding a little bit of weight to your Wiimote and giving it the right shape makes sports games a ton of fun.  It can get you more engaged in the entire gaming experience and the right accessories are a lot of fun at parties.  Plus, it’s only $15.  For the money, this is an easy way to have fun with your Wii.
