A series of concerts designed to coincide with the annual G8 Summit and to mark the 20th anniversary of Live Aid, Live 8 was held in nine cities around the globe on July 2nd, 2005. These locations included South Africa and all of the G8 nations, where over 1,000 musicians performed in the spirit of increasing awareness to issues facing impoverished nations. Recorded live on Coltrane's only Japanese tour in July 1966 at two Tokyo venues, Shinjuku Kosei Nenkin Hall and Sankei Hall, it is taken from mono radio broadcasts.
